Afterglow

Afterglow

By:

someone blinks

and lights soar across heaven’s sky

heavy and dark with the weight of every color

liquid passion

one would think nothing could live there at all

the universe illuminated above

what can you do except stop

and marvel

how a million moments can collide

into a single sky

a hazy afterglow,

the patch of color that remains

when you look at something too bright too understand

sticking to the inside of your corneas

sometimes, when the light fades exactly right

you can remember how it hurt
