Family Fight

Family Fight

It wasn’t their fight.

It was the fight of spirits from long ago.

They had said what could not be remembered.

They had died for what had been said.

And countless others.

Taking the very same pledge.

To hate unconditionally,

To provoke violence and neglect personality,

To subjugate unmercifully,

Until the end.

But the end never came.

Only more deaths and more names

And more graves and more tears.

And smaller families and quieter households.

And colder hands and softer voices.

These were the

“Spoils of War”.

These were the

“Victorious Families”.
