Weddings and Funerals

Weddings and Funerals

Happiness and sadness,

It just doesn’t mix.

Somehow,

I’ll have to fit it in my life.

Weddings have stories in front of them,

Funerals have stories behind them.

But I’m still stuck here.

Life can make or break me,

But death will just define me.

I have sorrows and regrets.

I have dreams about my wedding,

On a beach at sunset with the women I love.

I have nightmares about my funeral,

Two or three people,

With lots of flowers.

Bury me in this lake

So it will cleanse my soul

Before I rise up.

Make my funeral like my wedding,

Please!

Water and a little light,

Drinks and smokes,

Lots of people,

Love and joy,

Celebrate the last few minutes of my life,

As they may come too soon

For you.
